When it comes to describing myself I feel as if just saying my name is Sophia Alejandre and i’m this year's current ASB Board Representative, just doesn’t do me justice. A little insight to me is that I was born and raised in Tracy, California to two loving parents and had two older siblings, but after that my life gets a little crazy. Here’s the short story, when I was still a baby my parents divorced and with that I gained a bonus mom, dad, and 5 more siblings! Yes, I have 8 siblings and I wouldn’t change it for the world. You’re probably wondering why I’m telling you this, and that’s because my family defines who I am and why I work to be better. Growing up the way I did taught me one big life lesson, everything happens for a reason and you have to make the most out of the bumps in the road. I’ve always been the person to try and make the most out of a bad situation and I'm always trying to make people laugh. I don’t tend to be the shy type and I'm not afraid to take action and be that leader people need. Although like many high schoolers I tend to procrastinate every now and then, when I am focused though I’m a hard worker. You may find out that with certain tasks I need help or I’m a “just let me do it” type of person. I can’t say I’m the perfect candidate or leader, because I have my flaws, but i’m relatable and that’s what our student body needs. My first love is helping others and I hope through this next school year I can prove to you just that.
As far as my ideal school goes, it’d definitely be one with a lot of bulldog pride and spirit. This is the foundation I feel our school was built on and that’s what draws people to Tracy High School. Although I do feel in past years we’ve started to drift away from this principal and just become lazy. I feel we as a school need to find a balance between keeping some traditions and venturing off into new ideas. For example dog pound, being on sidelines Friday nights during football season I’ve always enjoyed hearing our student section cheer on our boys to victory. With that being said though I see two issues. One is that less students are sitting in the dog pound than years before, and one idea I feel could help attendance is themed student sections. We could get students excited about coming to the football games and dressing up, like our first home game of the season could be Hawaiian themed, saying Aloha to the new school year. I know it sounds crazy, but it was an idea I had. My second thing is that I feel as a student body we support football way more than any other sports team or club on campus. I fall guilty to this as well, but as ASB Board Representative this year I would focus more on getting people out to these events. Whether it’s a play or getting a big group together to go to the boys volleyball game I feel as if I'm ready to take on that challenge. Showing support for one another on campus one step at a time will bring back this bulldog spirit and pride I know we have !
yours truly,
Sophia Alejandre
